Cumberland College calendar promotes Indigenous art

Cumberland College

from the Melfort Journal:

“A new calendar for 2017 is promoting the work of Indigenous artists young and old while also promoting education.

The calendar was created by Cumberland College, who is partnering with the North East School Division.

“We want to acknowledge and celebrate the work of our Indigenous students,” said Brenda Mellon, Manager of Marketing and Continuing Studies for Cumberland College. “We’re really pleased with the quality of the calendar.”

This is the first project of it’s kind for the College.

Money raised from the sale of the calendars will be used to help a student pay for part of their education at the College.

Only 120 were made this time around until they can determine what the sale will be.

They have already decided that next year they will put out a call for artwork earlier.

Artwork comes from students at the college and the school division.”
