EAL Learning through Giving Back

North West College

Great things are happening in Spiritwood, SK!

North West College English as an Additional Language (EAL) students are learning English through assignments and project-based curricular expectations that focus on volunteerism.

Selling spring rolls for a good cause, the EAL class in Spiritwood present their case to one another in English to help decide where to send their generated charity funds. The students research international causes, prepare essays and build PowerPoint presentations to advocate for their cause while learning more about their adopted language and Canadian volunteerism.

Past charities have been particularly close to the hearts of many of these students with funds going to the Nepal Earthquake Victims and Children’s Programming in the Philippines.
