JIBC exchange programs give global perspective to students

Justice Institute of British Columbia

Since January 2013, 10 Law Enforcement Studies Diploma students from the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) have spent their last semester on an academic exchange at Waterford Institute of Technology in Waterford, Ireland. The program helps students gain an international perspective of law enforcement and learn about the different opportunities and challenges faced by those working in law enforcement in other parts of the world.

The experience not only gave former JIBC student, and now police officer, Diana Hon the confidence to handle the unknown, but a greater appreciation for the situation in which many newcomers to Canada find themselves.

For those students who can’t go away, JIBC offers the chance to gain a global perspective through interacting with foreign exchange students that come to study at the New Westminster campus, such as Sophie Butler and Alessia Nannini, currently here from the University of Portsmouth in the UK.
