from the Moose Jaw Times Herald:
Graduating Indigenous students at Saskatchewan Polytechnic were recently honoured at a special ceremony at the Moose Jaw campus.
This year was the first year all four Sask. Polytech campuses hosted an Indigenous honour ceremony, which was a big deal for student Conner LaPointe.
“That was a great opportunity to go there and just celebrate. A lot of these students, they worked hard and a lot of them have moved and left home to pursue post-secondary education,” said LaPointe, who will graduate this spring with an instrumentation engineering technology diploma.
“I think it’s great that we were able to celebrate their successes and hopefully inspire other people to better themselves as well.”
Honour ceremonies were open to students in their graduating year, as well as their family and friends and elders, to gather and celebrate successes. An honour song was also performed.
