For over 18 years, The Michener Institute of Education at UHN has partnered with the College of Science and Technology of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT) to deliver sonography training to radiographers and medical doctors across the island.
The partnership with COSTAATT began as a collaboration between Wilma Collins and Cynthia Cowling, radiography colleagues at COSTAATT and Michener, respectively. Their vision was to start a training program that would help raise the standard of health care in ultrasound in Trinidad and Tobago.
Michener’s Manager of the International Department, Carolyn Menezes, recently travelled to Trinidad and Tobago with her colleague and Ultrasound faculty member Cathy Babiak to evaluate multiple clinical sites and the students enrolled in COSTAATT’s Advanced Ultrasound program. While they were there, Carolyn documented her experience for a post on the Michener Blog.
The blog post showcases both the history and the lasting impact the partnership between Michener and COSTAATT has had for ultrasound education in Trinidad and Tobago, and highlights one of Michener’s important partnerships abroad.
